Do you realize how easy it would be to make your own DVDs?

I suspect that 99.99% of my readers have no idea at all how easy it would be and what the process would be if they wanted to make their own instructional salsa (or merengue, or bachata, or cha-cha) instructional DVDs.

If it really was easy to do, why wouldn't you want to do it?

What if I told you that you can make, produce and distribute your own instructional DVDs for about $2?

I don't think that everybody would want to do something like that but, for example, if there's a few cool patterns or moves or techniques that you do well and that people have often commented on or maybe asked you to show them how to do it......what's wrong with making an inexpensive DVD and just letting them have it for $4-5?

And you make $2-3 profit....or more if you want.  What's wrong with that?  Isn't your time worth something?

You've been taking lessons, going to congresses, workshops, social dancing, maybe helping other instructors for "X" years now.  Don't you think by now you have something to offer too?

What if I told you that you could produce your own DVDs like that...i.e. make you own instructional DVDs, complete in case, cover, everything.....for about $2.00(your cost)?

And sell it for whatever you want.  It wouldn't be hard to even put them up on a blog (or a website).

There is :-)  I'll be telling you more about it soon.

In the meantime, you should be thinking about your experiences as a salsa dancer(or cha-cha or whatever) and ask yourself these questions:

  • What did you have the most problems learning and what was it that finally helped me the most to 'get it'.
  • What do you do that people seem to like or admire the most?
  • What thing or things do you think are of critical importance in dancing and how would you get the point across if you were explaining it to somebody?
  • What would you like to see more of, on the dance floor, if there was a way you could promote it?

Those are all things that you could do if you had a means of conveying that information to others...which you could do if you had your own instructional DVDs.  I'm going to show you how to do that.

But let's discuss the bigger picture.  Why would you do something like this?

It's just like I said in the beginning.  Don't you have something to offer?  What's wrong with getting some credit for it?  And wouldn't it simply be....fun....to do it?

My feeling is that the web and modern software and technology should be available to everybody.  But in reality most of the time it's us sitting there patiently and obediently listening to what other people have to say.

We know darn well that there's things that we could do just as well or even better.  But usually we're passive spectators in the process because we're limited in our knowledge of how these other people produce and distribute all these other products and services.

I'd like to even the playing field a little.  I think it would be good for everybody.  Change creates more opportunity.  Not less.
