What's the connection between Bangkok and Galveston?

There's a connection between the Galvez Hotel (and also the Tremont House) in Galveston, TX. and Bangkok, Thailand (City of Angels).  Do you know what it is?

The connection is that both cities have hotels owned by Dusit International in Bangkok, Thailand.

Dusit International is a large hotel conglomerate founded by a Thai businessman which over the last 60 years has spread around the world.  Not only do they own many premium quality hotels in the Far East but they also own several unique hotel properties in the US.

The Tremont House and the Galvez Hotel, both in Galveston, both share one unique characteristic:  they're both historical landmarks.  They're not famous because they're big or ultramodern but rather because of their history and their historical environment.  That's why they're both members of www.historichotels.org.

The Dusit Thani Hotel in Bangkok, which I suppose is the corporation's original property, is one of the nicest hotels in Bangkok, Thailand.  I've been in before....many years ago.  Thailand and Bangkok has changed a lot since then but the Dusit Thani Hotel is still one of the prettiest hotels on the landscape there in Bangkok.

There's also a Dusit Thani Hotel here in Manila.  It located right in the middle of the Makati City area of Manila (also known as the 'Wall Street' of Manila).   I attend a church fellowship that meets there in one of the meeting rooms on the mezzanine.

Right across the street from the hotel is SM Mall, a huge shopping complex with, among other things, a huge food court and a large and diverse selection of stores to shop in.......everything from groceries to computers to clothes to pets.  It's also within walking distance from two of Makati's salsa venues, La Dolce Vita Restorante and Pub and Greenbelt 3.

Nazi Germany in Savannah, GA.

Just saw this in which passengers who disembarked from a train at Savannah after their trip had ended were subjected to an airport style TSA grope-down as well as a metal detector wanding. The video of the incident shows young boys being patted down and wanded by TSA workers in the train station.

Folks, this is the cause of our revolt here in America.  We can't allow this kind of thing to go on.  Trust me....this will effect YOU in a very real, personal way probably sooner than you expect.

You need to start talking about this kind of bullshit, blogging about it, tweeting about it and setting aside what you'll need when 'the system' collapses in the US because of this.  "We the People" will not stand for this much longer.

Sadly, there will be lots of people, possibly even the majority, who will swallow the line of crap the government, with the cooperation of the major media, will try to feed you about how this is all for 'your protection'.  Just like in the American Revolutionary War there was a sizable group of colonists who wanted to 'get along by going along' with the British Crown's treatment of the colonists.

But don't you fall for it.  From the get-go, 9-11 was a conspiracy, a false flag operation designed by very high powered people to take your and my freedom away....and what little wealth we might have left. 

One more thing....can you imagine how this kind of stuff molds the mindset of some of these young kids.  Hitler knew, as did the people who designed this current stuff, that you can change the future if you have control of the minds of the younger generation. 

The sad thing is that the younger generation is more susceptible to manipulation of this type.   We're not headed toward an America that I'd want to raise kids in.  Charlie Sheen has it right-on!

If a tree falls in the forest and no-one was there to hear it....

You've all heard that philosophical question, "If a tree falls in the forest and there was no-one there to hear it, was there actually any noise," right? (did I punctuate that correctly? :-)

I franky don't know and don't care what the answer to that one is....if there even is an answer.

But I do know a dumb-ass law when I hear one:

I suppose most of you have seen this video that's getting heavily viral right now.....of the brawl between a couple of fat chicks in a Dennys up in Massachusetts (notice they misspelled that state's name?).

 

Well, according to what I just read....well...you can read it:

While investigators have identified each pugilist seen in the YouTube video, a Chicopee Police spokesperson said that for someone to be charged with simple assault and battery the attack must occur in the presence of a police officer.

So.....if the cop didn't see it, no crime was committed?  A lowly 'citizen's' word as a witness isn't enough?

Sounds like a fucked up law to me.

Toilet Seat Website...via Tiffany Dow's blog

I found this unusual but practical Wordpress blog link, about unique toilet seats, on Tiffany Dow's website just now.  I thought it was interesting to see an example of something most people would probably never think of making a website about.

I don't know if this is Tiffany's site or not.  It probably is.  I do know she's very good at spotting unique little niches like this, building Squidoo Lenses or WP blogs to monetize them and then sitting back to watch the money come in.

Tiffany is a very nice person too.  I've bought several of her products and they're all very good.  She got her start as a ghost writer.

Is "Social Media Manager" really such a 'new' job description?

No...I don't think it is.  Social media management is just another name for getting people to pay attention to a busienss.  It's similar to advertising except with a more social orientation.   It's also similar to 'public relations'....which isn't a new term or profession. 

But there are a few 'new' things about being a 'socail media manager':

• Technologly has made it possible to be very effective creating 'buzz' via the itnernet.
• The volitility and competitiveness of business nowadays causes companies to look for any advantage they can get.  Thus the greater interest in hiring people who understand how to use social media to help their business grow.
• Being a Social Media Manager pays big money because companies know that it can be worth big money to their bottem line.

No doubt about it, when you consider that no special education is required, it's pretty amazing how much a person can make if they really know how to 'do' this social media managemetn thing.  Here's a video from a recent TV spot about it:

And once the systems exists...who's gonna control it?  Do you know anybody who you'd trust to run a global mechanism like that? 

I sure as hell don't.  If I have to chose between one and the other, I'll just say, "No thanks.  You can have the progress and I'll just keep my freedom and sovereignty!"

The "Do Not Track" Bill.....what's really the issue

Take a look at this article:

Lawmaker Introduces Online Do-not-track Bill

Apparently somebody in Congresses recognizes that US citizens are the subject of not only too much snooping by the government but also by businesses who track their online behavior and sell that data to others.

Thus, the Honorable (?)  Congressman wants a new law and/or federal bureaucracy to ensure that citizens can opt out of being snooped on and monitored by companies online.

Initially I thought that sounded like a good idea.  But then I realized there was a bigger danger.  Here's what it is:

Why give the government power to do something that, supposedly, the free market can take care of itself?

It's that simple.  If people don't want their behavior monitored and their sociometric data sold to others, then the companies who manufacture browsers out to be able to provide that option.  One person quoted in the articed said, probably correctly so, that there's so many different ways that data is collected on the net that it would too huge a task for the government to do cost effectively.

I think that makes sense.  Any way you slice it.....we don't need more government in our lives.  Let's let the free market work the way it's supposed to.
