I just read in an email newsletter that Dick Morris predicts much higher state taxes if they are forced to accept the proposed new federal health care guideline. I agree with him in that prognosis.
And that observation on the relationship between the states and the federal government brings to mind something that my artist friend back in Houston, Ron Gordon, told me. I've mentioned it before but it's even more relevant in the light of current government intrusions into our 'space'.
Ron told me that it was either his grandparents or his grandparents' grandparents who were alive during the Civil War. I forget which it was but.....for discussion's sake, let's just say it was his grandparents.....OK?
Anyway, they told him that the southerners who were alive then and who fought the North in the Civil War actually believed that the issue was much bigger than just slavery as 99% of the history books would have us believe.
They believed the large issue was 'states rights' .
According to them, it was a well known and accepted amongst southerners that slavery was an outmoded and unfair institution. They knew perfectly well that it was wrong and wasn't practical in the their emerging industrial economy.
But they also were trying to cope with the reality that there was no way in hell that they (i.e. the South) could just 'free' the many thousands of black slaves working within their predominantly agricultural economy.
To release that huge number of totally uneducated, non-Christian, and almost savage human beings into 'the streets' of America would have been a catastrophic socio-economic shock that could not be survived.
If you don't think that's so, just look at the situation today with clash between law abiding, educated society and our present non-lawabiding and uneducated (slight) minorities who just, by coincidence happen to be mostly Hispanic and/or Black.
And remember that the Northerners who controlled Congress at that time also wanted to give those newly freed blacks the 'vote' too. As I recall from my history classes, it wasn't a straight up 1:1 vote (i.e. 1 slave....1 vote). But still, because of the large numbers of black slaves living in the South at that time, far outnumbering the whites, they would have constituted a dramatically predominant voting block.
The Southerners werent' stupid. They knew this would be a disaster. So is it any wonder that they resented this intrusion and apparent destructive intent of the North? Is it any wonder that they rebelled? I think not.
That's why, as Ron's grandparents told him, that the South was actually defending their life, liberty and pursuit of happiness as guaranteed to all US citizens by our Constitution. That's the larger reason that they revolted, attacked Fort Sumpter, and....the rest is history.
That brings us up to today.
Here's a situation where the states are being more and more compelled by the federal government to do things that they don't want to do. And that's why there's a small but growing resistence movement amongst some state governement officials to resist.
Where will it lead to?
I don't know. But I do know that it'll lead somewhere. And, as I've often said....'people don't change'. When people are pushed to what they perceive as their limit, they eventaully, sooner or later, start to push back. That's how revolutions start.
Make no mistake about it. There will be a revolution in this country. Whether you're a part of it or just 'go with the flow' is a separate issue.
But history does repeat itself. It's as natural and normal as the sun coming up in the morning and going down in the evening.
The revolution is, I believe, going on right now. People like Newt Gingrich, Ron Paul, Bob Bar, Nancy Pelosi, Barak Obama, Hillery Clinton (et.al.), Warren Buffet, Ted Turner, Rupert Murdoch (even though he's not a US citizen), Harry Reid, Barney Frank, and others.....They're all factors in a huge equation that's sorting itself, on a macro scale, as we go about our daily lives.
Most people probably do not see the significance of these events but rather look at it on a more personal (WIIFM...what's in it for me?) scale. For that reason, only a few people who realize the real significance of these times and the opportunity we have to make corrections that will dramatically impact our future.
I believe the issue for you and me is simply........"do I want to have a say in my future?"
Do you really understand what's happening, why it's important, what value system you want to endorse within this battle of ideas, and what level of involvement you want to take?"
Well........you better get it figured out. Or somebody else will make your decision for you. And you won't like it.
States rights are right next to individual rights. We've got a situation today where an abusive, oppressive and out-of-control federal bureaucracy is taking away more and more of our personal freedoms and the prerogatives of our states. Those are important freedoms that originally made this a great country.
Personally.......I prefer to be a freedom fighter.

Take a look (for as long as you can hold your breath from the stench) and try to read even two sentences from this piece of legislative bullshit from our worthless stuffed suits in Washington D.C. If you can make one bit of sense out of it, you need to write a book on ....something.
I'd never actually seen anything, a real example of legistaltive language, like this until just now. Apparently, this is an exerpt from a section of the new health care bill that's going through the Congress right now.
Is this the way you want your representative representing you? I mean......considering the power we give those ass holes and the expense accounts and the lifestyle........don't you think they'd at least write in such a way that we know what the hell they're talking about so we could make a reasonably informed opinion on it?
I do.
But no! Instead we get the kind of underhanded, convoluted, slinky, slimey, deceptive, and deliberately misleading language in this proposed bill.
This is yet another example of the disdain which our naton's representatives hold for us........'we the people'. We're just sheep for the fleecing.....little human 'worker bees' fit only for the service of the queen and king, their courtiers and the rest of the ruling elite.
It's their attitude that we just give them our money and shutup. But, even though it's our money, they have no responsibility to use it wisely and we have no justification or authority to ask or care what they're doing with it.
I'm telling ya......when I saw the way that bill read.....it really pissed me off. If I was an editorial boss of some kind and I gave a writing assignment to someone on my staff to write something on this subject and they came back to me with a piece of shit like this........his or her ass would be out the door so fast it would create a sonic boom.
If I may digress momentarily.......this government technique of camoflaging bad laws in plain but not so plain view through the use of language that nobody but them can decipher isn't anything new. The IRS has been doing it for years.
I'll always remember Irwin Schiff's observatons that the IRS tax code really isn't anything for us to be afraid of. Irwin taught and showed many of us that there actually isn't any law that establishes an obligatory federal income tax.
That's true! But you'll only know it if you read the tax codes and the constitutional laws upon which the tax codes must be based in order to be legally binding. But, as Irwin says, the reason so many people think that federal income tax is obligatory is because of the way the government and the media hype it. We simply never read our contract and....we get screwed.
That's the reason the Feds illegally threw Irwin in jail....i.e. because he read the entire tax code. And the Constituton. And he knew them both inside out and better even than the average IRS goon and he was running circles around them every time it came to any kind of fair hearing or confrontation. He was literally 'eating their lunch'.
BTW......if you think I'm blowing how air the law and what it says, take a look at Irwin's site, www.paynoincometax.com where you can actually download his federally banned book, The Federal Mafia, for free. The link is there on the left. Yeah, I know I'm digressing........but, a 'banned book' in America?
Amazing isnt' it? Yet another example of the contempt that so many in government hold for 'we the people' today.
Anyway......I've got a train to catch and this is running over. But really.......this proposed bill I'm linking to here is another example why we need to have a million man march on Congress and we need to perhaps rachet up our level of effective protest. It's real obvious that the liberals and Democrats in our government today still haven't gotten the point that Americans don't like being screwed and we won't take this bullshit forever.
Love...

Maybe you heard that the most recent Obama-care medical bill passed House scrutiny. That seems kinda hard to believe, doesn't it? I mean......considering the vocal response that many Democrats got in recent town hall meetings?
So how did Obama pull it off?
By making more deals with privileged interest groups like the doctor's associations and the AMA. Read the details here.
Man! Could you get any more proof of their lack of respect for regular citizens?
I don't think so.
This is the kind of stuff that ought to bring every American to Washington with pitchforks and tar buckets.

I got one of my regular email newsletters from Human Events today. In it I found some more astounding, although true to character, news about the latest antics of Pelosi and her bunch.
Botten line is that after the American public resounding rejected their first government run health care plan, her and her bunch of congressional crooks have simply come up the essentially the same thing....only worse......and 1000 pages longer.
Bottem line is.....they still don't get it. They still think that 'we the people' can be ignored. They still think we're just sheep to be herded around and fleeced periodically.
I suspect that the majority of you are seeing the same info about this that I am. I mean.......sometimes I wonder what reality those ass-holes in congress are living in. No matter what we say or do, they just act as if we don't even exist.
Folks, if this isn't a great case for 'term limits', I don't know what is. But I'll guarantee you one thing. Our country needs a new generation of socio-political activists. We've underestimated the depths of the evil that can lurk in the heart of man. And in this case, I'm referring to the hearts of the majority of our politicians (mostly Democrats).
We need to start putting some chairs through windows and sending those people back to Washington covered with tomatoe paste and banana peels.
Click through here and I'll post as much of the email that I got as I can:

This gal, Shelly Roche sure has a pretty nose. But she's also a hard working gal when it comes to paying attention to liberty issues that she thinks are important. I can really appreciate both issues. Although one is a little more complicated than the other.
I'm pretty sure I like her nose but, overall, I'm onlly 90% sure that I don't want the government meddling in our internet service structure. In this video, below, the lovely Ms. Shelly infers the probability that there's some alterior motives behind recent efforts by one particular congress critter to impose new federal regulatory guidlenes on US ISP's.
Generally speaking, I know that anything the government meddles in is going to get screwed up. Yeah......anything.
It's an interesting though. Especially since the internet effects almost every aspect of modern life. Take a look at this short video and see what you think.

Do you like history?
And motorcycles?
How 'bout a slice of'em both put togather?
Ural Motorcycles are the only motorcyles in the world that come standard with a sidecar. In fact, they're specifically designed for a sidecar.
Yeah, I know that sidecar motorcycles aren't as fact as even some motorscooters......or other kinds of motorcycles. And certainly not as fast as cars.
But there's just something about them that's always been romantic to me. I'd like to have one someday.
And of course it would have to be a Ural. Ural has a very interesting history. Check out this PDF.

For reasons that I won't go into here, I didn't really have a good relationship with my mother. Or perhaps I should more precisely say that it wasn't a relationship with very good communication. She had a lot fo good qualities but she also had some emotional issues that effected her all her life.
Having said that, I can still say that I do respect old people. Over here in Korea you see even more obviously how respect for old people bolsters a society and comminities.
We used to respect old people in the US too, right. Remember the old days? Grandma and grandpa out 'west', grandma and grandpa in the Bronx, grandma and grandpa during the Depression?
And then came.......the AARP.
I'm old enough to join it although I've never considered it. Nevertheless, I always sorta thought they were a legitimate organization. Until today.
You're aware of some of the issues involved in this current health care debate, right? As Rush Limbaugh has often said, "......follow the money." That's always a factor in these modern times isn't it?
Well, according to what I just read in a news email from Newt Gingrich, the AARP is 'in bed' with the Obama administration and is involved in their brand of despotic, corrupt, self-centered politics.
The issue involves some current legislation effecting the relative competitivness of AARP 'sold' medical supplement plans vs. similar plans from private insurance companies. The bottem line of it is that if this new, proposed regulation takes effect the AARP stands to profit quiet nicely at the expense of it's members. The very people it's supposed to be serving.
Yeah.......it's just another case of 'big' organizations tending to be corrupt. AARP and the Federal government are both big. And they're both corrupt. We should do all we can to take care of our older people and insure that they are treated fairly rather than being considered just another group to be 'screwed over' by some big interest group, like AARP, claiming to represent their interests.
Here's the email:
