I grew up in the days of the first 'muscle cars'. The Ford Mustang, Chevy 396 SS, Chevy 327, Pontiac GTO, Ford 329, and Chryslers like the "Hemi", the Barracuda, the Super Bee, the Daytona, and the Chrysler 300et.al.).
Did I miss any? Well........I remember them well.
We had a girl in our band, good ol' "Dixie Dunn".....ahhhh yes. Little 'cutie' she was. She had a red 3 speed stick shift Ford Mustang. One of the early ones.
Then, my buddy Mike Holt used to take his family's Red Chrysler 300 out and 'rag' the shit out of it until finally his parents caught on and bought him his own car (a Ford Falcon!) Actually, I think his dad, who had been quiet a hell raiser in his early days, thought it was sorta funny.
And we had another fellow in our school class. I can't remember his name and I really didn't know him very well. He was one of the class 'ladies men'. I seem to remember he was on the football team to. Point is.....he had a very nice white Pontiac GTO.
I remember that he had a steady girlfriend and actually seemed to be a pretty straight guy. Never got into trouble of any kind and kinda kept a low profile. I think maybe that's why the girls liked him. He came from a family that had money but he was also a nice guy.
Anyway......those were the days. Going to make-shift drag strips at night, road racing the 18 miles from Jacksonville (Arkansas) into Little Rock with kids hanging out the windows screaming.
It's a wonder any of us are still alive.
But those were impressive cars. They didn't have the agility that European cars did but they had enough raw power to make them plenty fun to drive.
Well, it looks like Ford anyway is bringing back some of that feeling, and then some, with their new Ford SHO. The SHO has been around for several years of course but from the look and sound of this commercial, it's even better. Check it out:
I used to skateboard a lot when I was in highschool and I always wondered why nobody did it this way. Finally I discover that it is being done. Way cool!
I don't know why it is but I've never been able to get www.theonion.com from my office at school. I'm wondering if it's got something to do with the server and security settings there. I'll probably never know. But........egads!! I can get it here at my pad.
Here's the latest news about a really unusual kid:
It was Ana Antunes who introduced me to Kizomba. I've never actually met her and I have no idea even what she looks like. But I can only assume that she is a good dancer because of all the great dance videos she's put me onto over the years since she first responded to something I had blogged about (back when I lived in Houston).
At that time, if I remember correctly..........she had recently moved to Miami or somewhere over on the east side of the US. Here a few years ago she moved up to somewhere in the N.E. But I still sometimes get emails from here and they're always good
I'm not sure it would be safe to say that kizomba is her favorite dance. I think that might be the case. But I think she does or has done some teaching too.
Today I got an email from her with some great YouTube videos. There were two.....the first two here below. The third one is one I found myself but it's sorta related. In respect to the first two though..........I think it's something salseros or bachateros or kizombieros could do. For that matter.....they could do the third one too but I doubt that even the Rumbanana crew would be wild enough to do that.
